Aviation Stakeholder Information

Full details of the airspace change proposal are contained within the consultation document. The document includes a technical decription of the airspace changes specifically written for aviation stakeholders.

P-RNAV

The TC North airspace change proposal includes procedures which are designed to the European Precision Area Navigation (P-RNAV) standard.  If the proposal is accepted aircraft operators will need to be in possession of operational approval issued by their state aviation regulatory authority to fly these procedures.

Non-approved aircraft will still be able to operate from the major airports in the region because a limited number of conventional departure procedures will be retained. However, as a consequence of not being P-RNAV approved, aircraft may have to fly significantly longer departure routes and could be subjected to delay.

P-RNAV Operational Approval

As part of the operational approval process, operators will be required to demonstrate that their training programmes and operational procedures meet the standard required by the regulatory authority. In this regard, a number of generic safety issues have been identified which operators may need to address. These safety issues, as well as information about the P-RNAV approval process and flight planning requirements can be accessed via the NATS P-RNAV page.

Proposed withdrawal of London City Compton SIDs

The London City Compton SIDs, which are not currently used regularly, are proposed to be withdrawn as part of this proposal. The consultation document does not make reference to this proposal.

Aircraft heading to the west and over Ireland would, under the proposals, use the proposed MODMO SID to connect to the Daventry CTA and for westbound routes beyond. Alternatively they could use the existing Southampton SID which connects to the westbound route structure over Wales and the south west of England.
