Purpose of consultation

In preparing this airspace change proposal we have listened to many local authorities and representative groups throughout the region.

The consultation process is an opportunity for a wider audience to look at the proposed changes, the reasons behind them and to give their views on the plans.

Any issues that crop up during the consultation that have not been adequately considered during the design process may require NATS to make changes to the proposal. Those changes may need further consultation.

Scope of Consultation

This consultation follows guidelines laid down by the CAA in their airspace change process. In turn, the CAA guidance is in line with government policy on the sustainable development of airspace.

We are consulting with MPs, county, unitary, district and parish councils and many other representative bodies.

NATS is not responsible for the growth of airports or the increase in the number of aircraft flying. Traffic growth and airport expansion are therefore outside the scope of this consultation.
